System settings

System settings hold the organization-wide configuration that shapes how the platform looks and behaves for everyone. These are the defaults that apply across all projects unless something more specific overrides them.

The settings gathered here are worth getting right early because so much downstream behavior inherits from them. The ID prefix scheme shapes every record identifier your organization will ever create; the retention policy governs how long controlled records are kept; the sender identity determines whether your notifications look trustworthy or like spam. These are the kind of foundational defaults that are cheap to set once and costly to change after thousands of records already depend on them, which is why they live in one deliberate, organization-wide place.

Identity and branding

You set the organization name, upload an organization logo, and choose a primary brand color, so the workspace reflects your organization. Alongside these are localization choices — language, timezone, and date and time formats — that determine how information is presented to your users.

Record formatting

Settings here also govern how records are identified. A global ID prefix and the option to include the item type key in identifiers control the shape of the IDs every record carries — so your numbering scheme is consistent and meaningful across the organization rather than arbitrary.

Email sender and policies

You configure the from name and from email the platform’s notifications are sent under, so messages arrive looking like they come from your organization. Broader governance settings — data retention policies and security policies — also live here, setting the organization-wide rules for how long records are kept and how access is protected.
